Day 2 Early morning pick-up at your hotel for a transfer to the Domestic Airport in San José. At the lodges discretion you may fly by domestic flight to Golfito then a taxi transfer to the lodge or a single engine charter flight to the remote, private airstrip on the beach at Tiskita Jungle Lodge Day 2-5 3 nights accommodation in the Southern Rain Forest at Tiskita Jungle Lodge (standard room) & meals (3B.3L.3D). While at Tiskita, enjoy two guided tours of the private rain forest reserve & exotic tropical fruit farm that is popular with the local wildlife. Upon your arrival in San Jose, pick up a mid-size 4 Wheel drive car at the domestic airport for 3 days Car Rental. Drive on your own to the Arenal Volcano region (approx a 3 hour drive) Days 5-7 2 nights accommodation in Arenal at the Arenal Observatory Lodge (Smithsonian volcano room) (2B) or similar The Arenal Observatory Lodge is located only 1.6 miles south of the volcano across a gorge from the volcano and surrounded by lush rainforest. Visitors have an impressive view of this "giant which rumbles" and erupts with spectacular displays of vapor and lava. This hike takes you for a close-up exploration of recent lava flows which left a 50 ft. deep path of lava through the rainforest. Late afternoon, visit the Ecotermales Hot Springs, entrance fees included, where there are four hot spring pools to relax in amidst the calm and beauty of the humid tropical forest. Filled with clean hot spring mineral water heated from the volcano, you'll receive a natural massage from the small cascade of hot spring water. Doña Mireya, the host has a small very rustic little kitchen where you can buy a delicious Costa Rican meal Day 7 Today visit the Arenal Reserve Tour, entrance fees included. The Arenal Reserve includes both the Sky Tram and the Sky Trek, inside the tropical rain forest that offers you adventure, zip lines, bird watching & hiking. The Sky Tram is a 15 minute aerial tram tour through the rain forest to the “Miguel Angel” observatory, where you have spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano, Lake and the Tilaran mountain range. The Sky Trek is a 3,280 foot long zip line system that gives you the exhilarating opportunity to enjoy the rain forest with beautiful views. After your tour, depart Arenal and drive on your own to your hotel near San Jose (approx a 4 hour drive). Return the rental car before 5:00 PM as per your arrangement made at the time of pick up.
